Andrea Rossi, Durango Creative District & Friends of Durango Seniors have partnered with other nonprofits to bring a stand-up comedy class for folks aged 65+. In partnership with this class, we are offering a student showcase for participants to show you how hilarious they truly are!
Comedy is such a unique artform in that it is able to be accessed by, well, any person who wants to pick up a microphone. This is the beauty of the craft. Over the course of September and early October, particpants of the Creative Aging Workshop have been learning jokewriting from the ground up in Andrea's Stand Up 101 Course. She teaches how to build a joke premise, write a punchline, own your comedic voice, and more.
Andrea, the Durango Creative District, and nonprofits such as Friends of Durango Seniors, Think 360 Arts, and Lifetime Arts have been working to offer this course as a part of a larger series of programming related to aging creatively & in community. Check out any of the nonprofits to learn more!
This class was offered for free to the community and we are excited to also offer this showcase at a low cost. For just $10, this will be a great chance to watch the creative process in action, see first-hand how stand-up comedy benefits from learning the basics, and overall see an incredible, uplifting night of comedy.
