Durango Comedy has submitted an official Snowdown 2026 Event!
This year, we will be going underground at the Black Heron Lounge, a lovely cocktail bar with a bit of an upscale, high-class speakeasy vibe, to play a version of Match Game tailored to the Durango local experience. Prizes, boozy & delicious cocktails, and lots of laughs are bound to happen! Attendees are encouraged to wear their best vintage clothing items (doesn't have to be from the 70's) and dress up to their heart's content in nostalgic costume.
Contestants will be competing to match with our panel of local comedians & funny people. Be careful: when you're dealing with comedians, sometimes their answers aren't always the most logical ones!
WHAT IS
MATCH GAME?
Match Game is a game show started in the 1970's featuring contestants attempting to match a "fill in the blank" prompt with a panel of celebrities. Scroll down on this page to watch a clip from the classic original airing of the show.
For Example:
Jake just taught his dog how to sit, however, he didn't know the command he'd be using is "___BLANK___".
Jane went to the bank yesterday. She was shocked to find they had replaced the free lollipops with "___BLANK___"
Contestants will attempt to match the "BLANK" to the answers the celebrities have given. The most matches is the winner! Simple enough.
WHAT'S
DIFFERENT:
If you are familiar with the game show, this version's biggest difference will be: We are calling one contestant up at a time, with tie-breaker trivia at the end to determine our winners. There will be 15 contestants called up on stage to attempt their matches.
We will also be doing Durango-specific fill-in-the-blanks. The point is to be a little suggestive, a little chaotic, and a lot of fun.
Durango-specific blanks:
Susan had gone to every Durango Farmer's Market on Saturdays. She loved all of the community member's creations. She just never expected to find "___BLANK___" listed as 'locally sourced'.
Jay got so drunk at The Starlight, he was surprised he made it home. He was even more surprised, though, to find "___BLANK___" in his bed.
Most matches to our panel of local comedians wins! Again, contestants, think outside the box! Sometimes the best answer for Match Game is the one that makes the audience giggle the most.
